The Institute for Policy Research (IPR) is delighted to announce that Dr Susan Milner, Reader in European Politics at the University of Bath’s Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies, will join the IPR on a six-month sabbatical from February 2018.
During the sabbatical Dr Milner - whose research focuses on employment and social policy in Europe, with a particular emphasis on work-family policies, employment relations and the future of work - will pursue a project to answer questions about the future of workers' social rights after Brexit.
Working closely with the Government Equalities Office, the Women and Equalities Committee and the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, Dr Milner will develop an evidence-based strategy for supporting working parents in a post-Brexit landscape. The government’s current Brexit strategy leaves open many questions about the future of social rights, which will be protected during an initial period but vulnerable subsequently – and this project will aim to ensure that these are protected.
As part of her sabbatical, Dr Milner is expected to produce a Policy Brief, which will be launched at a select event in London later this year.
