Description: | Aims: This unit introduces the intermediate and advanced concepts of data analysis using statistics and forecasting techniques such as ANOVA, ARIMA, and logistic regression with applications in business. Learning Outcomes: At the end of this unit, students will be able to: * Make managerial conclusions about a set of given data using statistical methods * Analyse and interpret the patterns in a set of given data * Estimate the future observations of data using the trends identified. Skills: Intellectual skills: * Enhanced perspective of categorisation and classification (T, F) Practical skills: * Acquire, clean, present, and analyse data (T, F, A) * Use software for statistical analysis and forecasting (F) Transferable skills: * Improved awareness of variability in data (T, F, A) * Understand the uncertainties associated with forecasting (T, F, A) Content: Topics covered include probability distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, moving averages, exponential smoothing, linear regression, logistic regression, and effects of seasonality. |
