Description: | Aims: This unit will be delivered by multiple faculty members to showcase the advanced applications of analytics methods in multiple sectors and their implications in the wider and international context. Learning Outcomes: At the end of this unit, students will be able to: * Develop insights about the best practices of analytics in diverse industries * Choose appropriate analytics methods from the literature to solve a problem, modify as necessary, and implement for maximum effect. Skills: Intellectual skills: * Use of business analytics methods in finance, marketing, social media, healthcare, and logistics (T, F, A) Practical skills: * Knowledge of the state-of-the-art applications of business analytics (T, F, A) Transferable skills: * Enhance perspective of the descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics (T, F, A) * Assessment of volume, velocity, and variety of data generated in a given context (T, F) Content: Topics covered include the applications of business analytics in many industries, including but not limited to finance, marketing, social media, healthcare, and logistics. Special emphasis will be given to the role of Analytics Leadership in the organizations in terms of identifying the business problems aligned to the organization's strategy, how to bring solutions using the data scientists and analysts, and how different types of analytics organizations can be shaped based on the size and complexity of the companies. |
