Description: Aims:
To teach the underlying mathematics required for computer science within the Computer Science programmes.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the unit, the students will be able to:
1. Calculate with the rudiments of linear algebra.
2. Reason about series to the point of Taylor/Maclaurin expansions.
3. Use appropriate software tools for linear algebra and calculus.

Skills:
Application of Number (T/F,A), Problem Solving (T/F,A).

Content:
Aspects of Linear Algebra such as elementary matrices and vectors, Gaussian elimination, inverses, determinants, Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors, equations of lines and planes in space.
Aspects of sequences and series such as convergence, real numbers, partial derivatives, absolute convergence, comparison and integral tests, Taylor/Maclaurin series.
