Description: | Aims: To introduce students to the challenges and opportunities of technology-based entrepreneurship. Learning Outcomes: Having studied the unit, students will be able to: * Understand how entrepreneurial action can create and exploit technology to generate new business opportunities. * Critically assess the potential of different technologies for value generation. * Gain appreciation of different tools and methods for developing new products, process and services. * Develop entrepreneurial strategies to capture value from new technological opportunities. Skills: * Apply tools and methods of technology-based venturing to assess new business opportunities. * Use of key frameworks associated with technology-based entrepreneurship. * Develop and make recommendations for managerial strategy. * Communicate clearly and competently in written and oral forms * Work effectively within groups. Content: Markets for technology; diffusion of innovation; intellectual property; patent analysis; new product development; lead users and lead user analysis; collaboration and alliancing; open innovation; institutional and local context for technology-based venturing. |
