Description: | Aims: This unit will enable you to build on the skills and knowledge from unit 'Optimisation & Spreadsheet Modelling' and teaches you algorithm development and implementation for making optimised decisions, as well as simulating business processes using computer software for what-if-analysis. In simulating business processes, it is vital to reflect the team working nature of the business environment. Learning Outcomes: * Design heuristic algorithms for optimisation problems [CILO:K1] * Provide solutions for managerial decision problems using a programming language [CILO:I2, P1] * Construct simulation models of real-world business processes [CILO:I3, P2] * Test and compare business scenarios using simulation, and prepare business reports for non-technical audiences [CILO:I1, P5] * Use advanced level VBA and simulation software for solving context-specific problems [CILO:P4] * Demonstrate team-working skills [CILO: P7]. Skills: See LO Section. Content: Topics covered include heuristic algorithm development, and simulation modeling for analysis of real-world systems. |
