1. All players should be post-graduates or staff at The University excepting that each team may field up to one player who is not. Players cannot represent more than one team during each 'Season'.
2. Teams will consist of seven players plus up to two 'roll on/roll off' substitutes.
3. Normal football rules apply except the following : no offside, no back-pass rules, no sliding tackles. Throw-ins should be taken 'two-handed'. There is no 'head-height' rule. Penalty kicks should be taken from a distance of 8 yards. Opposition players must retreat 3 yards from a free kick. There are no restrictions regarding players entering either penalty area during open play.
4. Matches should be of 50 minutes duration if possible. Matches of less than 45 minutes will be considered void. Matches should be of two equal halves if possible. --CHANGE
5. Where possible, matches should be played on half of the Astroturf pitch, using the 5-a-side goals. The goal area should be taken to be a semi-circle with a radius of 10 yards from the centre of the goal. The goal-keeper may not handle the ball outside this area, although all players may enter it. Where appropriate, the areas marked out on the astro-turf should be used.
6. The team named first in each fixture is responsible for arranging that match (ie contacting opposing captains) before the deadline date. If a team is unable to play at the time offered, the responsibility for arranging the match is switched to that team. --CHANGE
7. If team members fail to turn up within 5 minutes of the arranged start time the the match must commence with whatever players are present or the match is scratched.
8. Scratched matches will result in the award of 3 points and 5 extra goals to the non-offending side. Guilt will be apportioned at the discretion of the League Secretary.
9. Results, with scorers' names, must be given to the League Secretary within 72 hours of the game from BOTH teams.
10. Players and/or teams may be suspended from playing in the League at any time at the whim of the League Secretary. --CHANGE
11. Three points are awarded for a win and one point for a draw.
12. The team with the most points at the end of the season wins the League. In the event of a tie, the League will be decided by goal difference, then goals scored and if still equal then pronounced a draw.
13. These Rules may be altered at any time of the season following agreement from the majority of team captains.
