Kilmington vs The Venturers, Sunday 10th
June 2007
Author: Gregory Sankaran
Kilmington 27-1 (10.1 overs), match abandoned
20-over game: Kilmington 180-5 Venturers 155-8
It rained. A pity, as we were doing all right. Duncan had been extremely accurate and Paul hardly less so: Kilmington's rather young openers had been able to do little more than defend, apart from one huge pull for six off Paul. Both batsmen looped balls from Paul just out of the reach of the field; Duncan bowled the younger opener; and after ten overs and a ball, the rain came.
Later we played a beer match on Kilmington's artificial pitch: everybody bowled two overs, in some cases in ordinary shoes. It was still absurdly wet. Gregory got two cheap wickets and Roger made fifty, but it wasn't serious even by our standards. We might have won if Duncan had been able to bowl in his usual style without falling over.
