Venturers vs Hay Hill, Wednesday August 18thVenturers 72-5 (15 overs)Alistair was sure we could play on. There were five overs left, we were 70-odd for 5, thanks mainly to Rob, who had made nearly half of them but had recently played around a straight one, and he had himself reached thirteen from about ten balls. We had lost wickets at regular intervals but it hadn't slowed us uo much. And the very efficient Zimbabwean was out of overs. And it did, in fact, stop raining. Alistair led us out to the middle. It was certainly playable, even after twenty minutes' rain. Maybe we should adjust the score by some Duckworth-Lewis guess, as it would soon get dark? Should we face two more overs and be awarded eight extra runs, or play out our innings and then invent a target for them to chase in fifteen, or...oh, it's starting to rain again. Well, maybe we could...aargh! The bails! They are floating away! |
