Venturers vs Cramer, Wednesday June 15th

Venturers 83-4 (15 overs). Abandoned.

It started to rain just as we gathered at the car park but stopped, giving us time to find out that Alistair, who wasn't playing, had retained the kit three bag with the balls and most of the bats, and the scoreboard.

The rain began again as we were about to start. Chris stopped just short of crossing the boundary, fearing that that would start his innings and therefore the match, and cost us all a match fee. We sheltered under a tree for ten minutes. After that the Cramer bowlers found it hard to grip the wet ball and we made some progress, but the very slow outfield kept the scoring down. In the seventh over, with 25 being shouted by the scorers, Chris had his middle stump knocked out, and the same thing happened to Tom Rosoman, the other opener, a couple of balls later. Shashank followed in the next over, the victim of a good catch, but Jack and Renju prospered. Renju chose to hit the ball in the air, avoiding the puddles, and hit five fours, most of which bounced only once, and a very big six. Jack accumulated calmly. Then Renju got bowled. Yameen faced three balls, and the rain grew heavier. We gave up. Nothing to see here. Move along now.
