Venturers Vs The Star, Wednesday June 10thThe Star 132-5, Venturers 93-4The real problem this time was that Gregory was by some distance the most economical bowler, and didn’t get any wickets. This is not the plan. Nobody was bad, and Omar demonstrated his googly again, but runs leaked steadily. Chris Middup, who has been very effective lately, bowled more bad balls than usual, and nobody bowled the tight spell that might have compensated for that. Nikhil managed a stumping off Omar, but otherwise it was all rather flat. Our innings wasn’t much more interesting. Chris got after one of the opening bowlers but otherwise we simply scored too slowly. There was an expensive over at the end from, of all people, Harjeet, from which Stan profited, but the difficulty was that there were far too many dot balls. It could be argued that we lost the match through inferior ground fielding. The final margin was huge for a twenty-over game, but somehow although we never looked as if we might win we didn’t feel as outplayed as the scorebook suggests either. |
