In the 18th century, English royalty* and other rich people began to visit Bath frequently to bathe in and drink the hot spring water. The number of visitors to Bath began to dramatically and so, more accommodation and places to eat were needed. At that time there was a businessman called Ralph Allen, who stone quarries, just outside Bath, and he that if the new buildings were made from his stone, he could make a lot of money. He also knew that if the new buildings were beautiful and , these would attract even more people to Bath. , he decided to invite famous architects* to Bath to a new city. The result of was the wonderful architecture- for example, the elegant Royal Crescent and the Circus- we can still see in Bath today.

, thousands of tourists visit Bath to see the ancient Roman baths and the beautiful, well-preserved historic buildings. , there is a brand new attraction, for both tourists and local people alike: the 21st century spa development, which opened in early 2003. The spa has facilities that people can use, health treatment rooms and several thermal bathing pools, one of which is a wonderful open-air, pool. From this, we can see that Bath has always benefited and continues to benefit from its remarkable hot springs.
