Paying your tuition fees

You can pay your tuition fees with a student loan, through an approved sponsor or by one of these University-accepted payment options.

All students and payers should familiarise themselves with the latest scams targeting students.

When to pay your fees

Undergraduate and postgraduate students

You will receive an email inviting you to register when online registration opens. You must then complete the 'Fees and Payments' section. During this section you must complete one of the following:

During registration, self-funded students can choose to pay in one or two instalments; the second instalment is due in the following February.

Distance Learning students

You must make payment upon receiving an emailed invoice.

How to pay your fees

Cash and cheques are not acceptable forms of payment, but self-funded students can pay using these options:

Bank transfers

UK or International bank transfers can be made via Flywire for first instalment during registration, for second instalment and all subsequent payments.

Direct Debit (from a UK bank account)

Direct Debits must be set up during registration; this cannot be arranged once online registration is complete.

Direct Debits are collected in two instalments for self-funded students. The University will send a notification prior to the payment being automatically collected.

Student loans

If your fee status is 'Home' and you are starting your first undergraduate course, you may be able to apply for a student loan through the UK government. Read more about undergraduate student loans

If your application is successful, the University will be notified and your loan details will appear under the 'Fees and Payments' section when you register.

If no loan details appear, do not select an alternative payment method as you may be charged twice; you will be asked if you have applied for a tuition fee loan. Select 'yes'.

If you no longer need your loan, contact the relevant student finance authority below to cancel the loan and send an email to the University's Student Finance team to advise the loan has been cancelled.

Students with sponsors

You may have a sponsor who is willing to pay for your tuition fees. A sponsor could be an employer, a commercial organisation or a government body; a sponsor is not a friend or relative who has agreed to pay your tuition fee.

If a sponsor is approved by the University, the sponsorship details will appear when completing the 'Fees and Payments' section of registration; you will need to confirm the details are correct to complete this section. If there are any errors, contact Student Finance immediately. Sponsors must pay in one instalment via bank transfer after receiving their invoice. Read more about student sponsors.
