Develop a critical and practical understanding of sport management, as well as development, coaching, physical education, sociology, and psychology in sport.
This degree is designed for those who wish to examine the role of sport, health and physical activity within society.
You'll have the opportunity to gain a fundamental understanding of sport management and development, coaching and physical education, and the sociology and psychology of sport. You will also develop an advanced understanding of at least one of these areas of study.
You’ll consider the contributions sport makes to society and assess whether and how sport can be improved. You will study against the backdrop of the University’s world-class multi-sport training environment.
In Year 1, you'll study introductory units in the key areas of sport management, coaching, development, sport psychology, the political and social context of sport, physical education, and research methods.
Year 2 gives you the opportunity to develop your knowledge of topics that interest you through a selection of optional units. These units will focus on areas connected to sport management, coaching, development, sport psychology, physical education, and the social context of sport, health and physical activity.
In your final year, you'll carry out a year-long research project and advance your studies in the core areas of sport covered across this course.

Postgraduate study
Our MSc Sport Management course offers a potential route for graduates from BSc (Hons) Sport Management and Coaching.
Co-developed by the Department for Health and the School of Management, it covers diverse theories and methods relevant to the sport management industry.

Our £35 million Sports Training Village contains some of the UK’s best sport and exercise facilities, accommodating more than 50 sports. We regularly host major international competitions and provide a dedicated sports training space.
