Placements
Undergraduates
A six or 12 month work placement is available to undergraduate students on certain courses. These are full-time, professional roles. They are normally paid.
Six month work placements Available to students on:
- BSc Business
- BSc International Management
- BSc International Management and Modern Languages (must be in a location where the business language is French, Spanish or German)
Involves: Students working full-time in a professional role with real responsibility
Timings: January - July or July - January
Costs: Varies by industry and location.
Average UK annual placement salary (2023/24):
- London average - £25,766
- Regional UK average - £21,692
12 month work placements Available to students on:
- BSc Accounting & Finance
- BSc Accounting & Management
- BSc International Management (must be outside of the UK)
- BSc International Management and Modern Languages (must be in a location where the business language is French, Spanish or German)
- BSc Management
- BSc Management with Marketing
Involves: Students working full-time in a professional role
Timings: July - July
Costs: Varies by industry and location.
Average UK annual placement salary (2023/24):
- London average - £25,567
- Regional UK average - £21,552
Projects
Undergraduate or taught postgraduate (MSc and MBA) students work with you on a real piece of consultancy. Projects last from three weeks to 18 months. Academic supervisors support all projects.
You will give students a piece of consultancy work to research and share their findings.
Timings:
One year projects start: September - March
Short term projects start: June - September
Costs:
One year projects: £1,000. We can reduce this for charities, start-ups and small businesses
Short term projects: free. We ask you to cover students’ basic expenses

- How will digital innovations disrupt the future of over the counter healthcare market in the UK?
- How can we remove the gender pay gap and encourage wider diversity in the workplace?
Postgraduate internships
A three to six month internship for MBA students, who have at least three years’ experience, or MSc students. Internship takes place at the end of their course, creating an opportunity to offer them a permanent role. Three to six month internships
Open to: MBA and MSc
Involves: Students working full-time in a professional role
Timings: September - January/March
Costs: Salaries negotiable
Other engagement options
Company presentation
Open to: All students
Involves: Promoting your business and employment opportunities to students.
Timings: Normally held October - April (but sessions do run throughout the year)
Student mock interviews
Open to: All students
Involves: Helping students improve their interview skills. A good opportunity to identify future recruitment talent.
Timings: Normally held October - November and February - March (but sessions run throughout the year)
Company visits
Open to: All students
Involves: Inviting students to on-site visits to teach them about your business and promote career options.
Timings: Normally take place in October, February and June/July
Coaching and mentoring
Open to: MBA students
Involves: Coaching or mentoring an MBA student
Timings:
- Coaching: September - September
- Mentoring: July - September
Costs: Coaches are paid by the School of Management. Mentors work on a voluntary basis.
Sponsor a prize
Open to: All students
Involves: Sponsoring and awarding prizes to students at graduation
Timings: Graduation typically takes place in December and June
