The Research & Innovation Services Department (RIS) of the University would like to appoint a doctoral student to support us with a range of different events held during the coming year.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to engage with a range of events attracting attendees from inside and outside the University, developing a range of skills in events support and management as well as meeting and interacting with a wide variety of visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • supporting the administration of both campus-based and online events
  • managing and administering events-based spreadsheets and correspondence
  • for campus-based events, hands-on help with event setup including movement of furniture, handling of audio-visual resources,
  • providing a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable point of contact for event attendees (virtual and face-to-face) and for queries

Who we are looking for

A successful candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • you must have the eligibility to work in the UK until at least end August 2025
  • you must be a current doctoral student
  • you will be happy to use basic word processing and spreadsheet applications (Microsoft 365 suite)
  • you are able to interact well with groups of people, online and offline
  • you should understand what excellent customer service involves
  • you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • you will have an enthusiastic, can-do attitude and proactive approach to problem solving

This position may involve occasional evening and weekend working as well as working on and off the main campus site.

Rate of Pay

You will be employed as a casual worker 5 (CW5) at £13.24 per hour.
