Engaging with Legacies of Empire and Slave-Ownership in Bath and Bristol’s Memoryscapes was published in July 2024, more than four years after the events that brought many of the authors together online.
In the final publication, 19 authors contributed to the book, these diverse and distinctive voices offer timely commentaries, insights and experiences in the memoryscape enriching and transforming an uncomfortable heritage through empathy and creativity. Multiple perspectives from academics, artists, activists and heritage professionals, contribute ideas and strategies towards re-telling obscured stories and getting unheard voices heard.
This event is a chance to hear from some of them and perhaps to reflect on the passing of time and the evolution of the memoryscape over those four years. Authors have been invited to offer a brief introduction or reading from their chapter. This will be followed by Q&A and discussion.
