The Commemorative Days Committee formulates and drives the University’s programme of commemorative celebrations. The six key events we celebrate are:
- International Women’s Day
- LGBTQ+ Pride
- Armed Forces Day
- Black History month
- Disability Awareness month
- World Day of Social Justice
The committee also strive to recognise other key inclusion dates throughout the year and meet monthly to plan out activity.
There is representation from teams across the University on committee, including the:
- Culture and Inclusion Team
- Students’ Union
- Communications team
- Student Support and Safeguarding team
- Library
Other individuals with relevant interests will be invited to join the committee for the planning of specific commemoration events to enhance expertise. For example: the Chair of aFlame Disability Staff and PGR network, Kaleidoscope LGBTQ+ network, People of Colour network, Professional Services Women’s Leadership Network.
