Arts-Based Workshop on Intersectionality

The Feminist Education Network invite you to a workshop to have a pizza lunch and to celebrate the importance of the diversity of women by experimenting with intersectional feminist analysis using artistic (or more conventional) methods to do it. The facilitators of the workshop are Professor Andrea Abbas, Dr Sally Hewlett, Paul Gao, and Dan Zhao. The convenors will facilitate and participate within an interactive and generative workshop. To allow you to think with your own data, we ask you to bring along something from your own work, data or lives where you think or know that intersectional thinking might be useful in understanding the phenomena you are interested.

The theme this year is “Accelerate Action”. Our panel members will reflect on what it’s like to be a woman in 2025, discuss the hurdles and challenges they’ve faced and we will then look ahead with a focus on what we still need to achieve.
We will have time for a Q&A and lunch will be provided. The event will be introduced by Fiona Gillison and hosted by Louise Brown.

What Young People Really Want

What Young People Really Want is a celebration of young people using art to express what matters most to them. Led by Dr Rachel Wilder from the University of Bath’s Department of Education and curated by Dr Ben Van Praag from Bath Spa University (PhD alumni of University of Bath), this project provided a safe and collaborative space for young people to explore their identities, passions, and concerns through graffiti, stencils, animation, and the written word.

Athena Swan celebration event
Vice-President for Community and Inclusion, Prof Jane White, is hosting 16 Departmental Athena Swan Leads and 4 Faculty/School EDI Champions on 5th March for a celebration event as part of institutional recognition of IWD and the pivotal role Athena Swan is playing to advance gender equality in higher education.
#NeverOK
This International Women's Day we are bolstering our support for the #NeverOK campaign, a citywide campaign which makes clear that bullying, harassment, and sexual misconduct are #NeverOK. Through training students in bystander intervention, and developing allyship and community within the University, the campaign is creating a more inclusive and race-conscious environment.
