If you haven’t already had both doses of the MMR vaccine, which protects you from measles as well as mumps and rubella, you can get free vaccinations from the NHS at any age. If you’re not sure whether you’ve been vaccinated, speak to your GP.
Measles spreads very easily by coughs and sneezes, and you can quickly become unwell. The symptoms are:
- a high temperature
- a cough
- runny nose
- sore red eyes
- a rash.
If you have these symptoms you should call your GP or NHS 111. Don't visit your GP in person, to avoid spreading measles to others.
If you haven’t yet registered with a GP in Bath you can register with the Medical Centre on campus or find a GP surgery near to your student home. It’s best to do this now, to save time if you need to see a GP in the future, so don’t wait until you are ill.
