We have been delighted with the response to our stand in the Claverton Rooms Foyer during Research Week, which took place Monday 16 to Friday 20 September.
This provided an opportunity for academics, research staff and professional service colleagues to find out about our wide-ranging services to support you with developing research, running projects and disseminating findings.
As the week draws to a close we thought it might be helpful to share some of the frequently asked questions with those of you who weren’t able to stop by in person. These were:
can you help improve the quality of my research proposal? – our Research Grant Development team supports academic staff to secure research funding and ensure proposals are submitted to the highest standard
can you help me find funding for my research? – we subscribe to Research Professional and can help you with using the system to search for funding opportunities
will my EU research funding still be guaranteed if there is a no deal Brexit? – information regarding EU funding is available on our site which also signposts to our EU expert who can help advise
how do I go about costing my research project? – speak to our Pre-Award team who check and advise on all research funding applications
do you provide any support for project finances once my research is funded? – we manage the financial administration of current research projects
what types of research project management service do you offer? – our range of support services gives you more time to carry out your research
what are the most effective ways of achieving impact from my research? – we have a dedicated Impact team who can work with you to develop a strategic approach for demonstrating the reach of your research
can you help me get a contract for my research? – we are responsible for delivering research and commercialisation contracts if you are working with an external organisation
can you help me find companies to collaborate with for my research project? – we can help you build relationships with industry partners
how do I benefit from going through Consultancy Services in RIS if I want to offer consultancy work outside the University? – we provide advice, guidance and support throughout the lifecycle of your consultancy project
how can you help if my research has commercial potential? – we offer a wide range of support for researchers, entrepreneurs and innovators this includes through our Bath SETsquared Innovation Centre
This was also an opportunity for colleagues to offer feedback on RIS’ services. We are extremely grateful for your responses and will look closely at these to further improve our services to you.
