Senior Engineer (Hosting-DBA)

We are looking for a subject matter expert and trusted partner to work professionally and collaboratively with colleagues, business stakeholders, analysts, and project managers, to develop and configure IT infrastructure systems and services.

The Senior Engineer role sits within the Delivery & Operations pilar within DDaT. As a Senior Engineer, you will be working in 2nd and 3rd line support, resolving problems, documenting root causes, and improving service levels, maintaining current systems, upgrades, and changes.

Your role will focus on all thing's database, from installation and troubleshooting to optimising server availability and maintaining back-up procedures.

Senior Service Analyst (Standard Support - 2nd Line)

Do you have line management experience? We are looking for a Senior Service Analyst to lead a small team of Service Analysts with responsibility for deploying them in an effective manner as priorities change. You will be part of a team responsible for the provision of 2nd line support for all equipment, software and services supported by DDaT.

This team is responsible for the effective response to, investigation of and resolution of all support requests; for the provision of 2nd line field support for all IT & Audio-Visual equipment and services supported by DDaT. You will be actively involved in the day-to-day delivery of an effective IT Delivery Service to the University.

Senior Test Engineer

Do you have a background in building and leading a Quality Assurance and Testing (QAT) practice? The Senior Test Engineer will define QAT policies, strategies, utilise test automation where appropriate to implement best practices and drive excellence in software and service testing.

Working with the IT Portfolio Team, the Senior Test Engineer will support the delivery of projects within the IT Projects portfolio, through the implementation of appropriate test and quality assurance frameworks and processes that integrate with the Project Management Framework and ITIL processes.

Specialist IT Support Engineer

Are you a skilled IT Professional with a background in IT and/or Audio-Visual support and service delivery?

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team focussed on the support of specialist and advanced IT and Audio-Visual equipment, software and solutions supported by Digital, Data and Technology Group (DDaT), within a changing business, research, and technical environment.

You will be part of a team of Senior Service Analysts supporting the administrative, learning, teaching, and research activities of the University. You will be actively involved in the day-to-day delivery of an effective IT Delivery Service to the University, acting as the point of escalation for incidents and changes and will provide technical expertise in their area.

About us


We are excited to be building a DDaT function following a recent review of our activities. We are now recruiting to newly configured and vacant roles to help lead and deliver our focus on develop and transform whilst still supporting and maintaining our current services and technology – both of which will play a pivotal role in supporting colleagues and delivering our digital strategy.

Our department is already full of talented individuals, some of whom have been promoted due to the new opportunities available, and we are looking for new colleagues to join us as we grow and develop.

Change Champions

Following our recent changes, we have set up a change champions network so we can understand how people are feeling and what challenges there are for the department. This network meets every 1-2 months to raise important issues and work together to find ways to resolve any concerns.

Wellbeing Champions

We have a number of Wellbeing Champions in DDaT who support the wellbeing of the department. These champions can be contacted should you be concerned or worried about yourself or someone else. The DDaT Wellbeing Champions are part of the wider University run Wellbeing Champion Network.

All Staff Away meetings/days

On a quarterly basis, the whole department meets to provide and receive updates on the department and the wider University. During the Christmas and Summer period, we meet to do something fun! In July 2024 we held our Summer away day.
