Database Administrator

We are looking for a subject matter expert and trusted partner to work professionally and collaboratively with colleagues, business stakeholders, analysts, and project managers, to develop and configure IT infrastructure systems and services.

The Senior Engineer role sits within the Delivery & Operations pilar within DDaT. As a Senior Engineer, you will be working in 2nd and 3rd line support, resolving problems, documenting root causes, and improving service levels, maintaining current systems, upgrades, and changes.

Your role will focus on all thing's database, from installation and troubleshooting to optimising server availability and maintaining back-up procedures.

Enterprise Data Architect

The Enterprise Data Architect role sits within the Data & Technology pillar within DDaT. You will work closely with the Chief Data & Technology Officer (CDTO) and stakeholders from around the business on the creation and measurement of the university’s data strategy. You will provide data architecture leadership, setting the data architecture standards and ways of working for the data community.

Capable of operating across a wide-ranging technology stack including SaaS, PaaS, Commercial off the Shelf as well as in-house custom developed solutions, have the knowledge and skills necessary to take functional and non-functional requirements, provide expert architectural direction to engineering teams based on these requirements and evaluate engineering designs against architectural standards.

Engineer - Learning and Events Technology (AV)

As a part of a dedicated LET team, you will be responsible for the provision of excellent support services to staff, students and events customers. The role will involve substantial contact with an array of audio-visual equipment, learning technologies and technology systems built into the facilities on campus. A background in configuration of Extron or Crestron equipment would be preferred, but also experience of Dante, HDbaseT, QSYS, DMX, or AutoCAD would also be helpful.

The Digital, Data & Technology Department (DDaT) is a passionate community of technical experts who provide digital, data and technology services that are accessible, relevant, and secure. We are motivated by helping people solve problems, be more effective in what they do today and innovating to raise the bar of what can be achieved in future.

About us


We are excited to be building a DDaT function following a recent review of our activities. We are now recruiting to newly configured and vacant roles to help lead and deliver our focus on develop and transform whilst still supporting and maintaining our current services and technology – both of which will play a pivotal role in supporting colleagues and delivering our digital strategy.

Our department is already full of talented individuals, some of whom have been promoted due to the new opportunities available, and we are looking for new colleagues to join us as we grow and develop.

Change Champions

Following our recent changes, we have set up a change champions network so we can understand how people are feeling and what challenges there are for the department. This network meets every 1-2 months to raise important issues and work together to find ways to resolve any concerns.

Wellbeing Champions

We have a number of Wellbeing Champions in DDaT who support the wellbeing of the department. These champions can be contacted should you be concerned or worried about yourself or someone else. The DDaT Wellbeing Champions are part of the wider University run Wellbeing Champion Network.

All Staff Away meetings/days

On a quarterly basis, the whole department meets to provide and receive updates on the department and the wider University. During the Christmas and Summer period, we meet to do something fun! In July 2024 we held our Summer away day.
