Step into Bath

Step into Bath is a residential summer school experience for students to experience life at Bath before deciding to apply to study at Bath.

What is Step into Bath?

Join us for our on-campus residential summer school for students considering applying to Bath, from Tuesday 29th to Thursday 31st July 2025.

Step into Bath is a 2-night residential summer school for Year 12 students who are on track to meet our typical offer and who are considering applying to Bath for 2026 entry. During the event, you’ll get involved in:

  • interactive sessions focussed on making a competitive university application, including top tips to boost your personal statement

  • attend presentations by representatives from our academic Faculties (Engineering & Design, Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences) and our School of Management

  • academic skills sessions to prepare you for the transition to university study

  • meet other Year 12 students considering applying to Bath

  • spend time with current university students who will share their own experiences of student life at Bath

  • find out about careers and employability, including our placement scheme

You will stay in single occupancy, en-suite bedrooms in on-campus accommodation, learn in our lecture theatres and use our purpose-built facilities for activities, sports, and recreation.

When is Step into Bath?

Step into Bath will take place from Tuesday 29th to Thursday 31st July 2025.

For safeguarding reasons we cannot consider applications for partial attendance (eg 1 night) therefore if you gain a place, you must be prepared to attend for the full duration of this residential.

Who can apply?

-

You can apply for Step into Bath if you are a Year 12/Lower Sixth student who is on track to meet our typical offer and you are planning to start a university course in 2026.

To be considered for a place on Step into Bath, you will need to have obtained at least six GCSEs at grades A* to B/9 to 6, and at least a grade C/4 in GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent in an alternative qualification).

You will also need to be taking the relevant A levels (or equivalent) for your chosen course and provide us with the grades you expect to achieve (these do not need to be official or awarded by your school).

If you are likely to meet our widening participation criteria we recommend that you apply for our Discover Bath programme.

How much will it cost?

The 2-night residential will cost £350 per student.

The fee will cover the cost of accommodation, food, and all activities.

Please note that you will need to arrange your own travel to and from our campus, and that we are unable to reimburse associated costs.
