Aims: This unit aims to:
* Provide an advanced study of the professional duties and responsibilities of architects according to the demands of current legislation and RIBA practice guidelines * Review the basic principles of business in project management and administration. Learning Outcomes: After taking this unit students should be able to: * Understand the fundamental legal, professional and statutory requirements as they relate to design practice * Apply the basic principles of business management to running an architectural practice and administering a construction project * Explain and relate to the principles of cost planning and cost control * Appraise the role and responsibilities of the project manager * Evaluate approaches to integrated team performance, value/risk management and other emerging trends in project management practice * Demonstrate a clear understanding of the responsibility of the architect in respect planning, building and health and safety legislation.
