Aims: This unit aims to:
* reflect on translating theory into practice * provide the opportunity for students to understand their own learning. Learning Outcomes: After taking this unit students should be able to: * demonstrate the application of engaging theory with their own practice * analyse their individual experiences and identify areas for improvement in their practice * demonstrate professional competence through the recognition of personal strengths and successes as well as mistakes and weakness. Skills: Intellectual skills * To appreciate the value of reflecting on practice - facilitated Professional/Practical skills * To prepare students to critique their own practice - facilitated and assessed * To prepare students to critically engage theory with their own practice - facilitated and assessed Transferable/key skills * To organise and produce a reflective portfolio - facilitated and assessed * To communicate ideas verbally and in writing - assessed. Content: This unit requires students to create a personal reflective portfolio. This shall consist of reflective exercises completed while undertaking units AR50121, AR50122, AR50123, AR50124, AR50125, and AR50126 as well as a written reflective commentary. A briefing for this unit will be made during the Introductory Workshop at the outset of the programme. Students will receive a 2hr tutorial during the compilation of the portfolio. Assessment shall be by means of the reflective portfolio and a presentation during a programme residential. [special arrangements will be made from time-to-time for students to make their presentation by teleconferencing if they progress through the ICM programme at a quicker rate than the scheduled programme]. |
