Aims: To provide the Maths skills required by Chemistry Students, and to provide simple example exercises to practise these skills.
Learning Outcomes: After studying this unit, students should be able to:
* Solve straightforward problems involving the mathematical techniques covered
* Apply these basic mathematical methods to the solution of chemical problems.
Skills: Numeracy (T, F, A), Problem solving (T, F, A).
Content: Review underlying Maths required by Chemists: Algebra: Equations of straight lines, Quadratics, Exponential Function. Sines and Cosines. Calculus: Differentiation: Tangents, Rates of Change, Max/Min Integration. Experimental Error.
