Aims: To develop methodologies for solving quantitative problems in Chemistry.
Learning Outcomes: After studying this unit, students should be able to: * Understand basic concepts of magnitudes and units in the context of chemistry. * Identify the steps needed to formulate problems in different areas of chemistry in a quantitative way. * Apply basic mathematical skills including analytical and graphical methods to the solution of properly formulated problems. * Use a spreadsheet such as Excel to handle and visualize data and calculations in Chemistry. Content: * Basic quantitative concepts in analytical chemistry * Basic quantitative concepts in structural chemistry * Basic quantitative concepts in thermodynamics * Basic quantitative concepts in spectroscopy * Basic quantitative concepts in kinetics * Basic quantitative concepts in surface chemistry. |
