Aims: This module aims to provide students with the necessary theoretical and practical tools to understand the, and work in, a multi-currency professional environment.
Learning Outcomes: At the end of this unit, students should develop understanding of: (i) the relationship between a national economy, its balance of payments and the exchange rate; (ii) derivative instruments and markets; (iii) assessing risk of international transactions; (iv) hedging foreign exchange risk. Content: Parities and basic forecasting of exchange rates; derivative instruments, markets for them and their applications to hedging currency risk; portfolio diversification theory; performance measures; assessment of political and country risk. |
