Aims: To develop an understanding of the principles of pharmaceutical care and a problem solving approach to clinical practice.
Learning Outcomes: 1) By the end of the unit the student will be able to: 2) Describe and critically discuss the concept of pharmaceutical care (knowledge and understanding); 3) Describe a systematic approach to problem solving in the clinical setting (professional practical skills); 4) Describe the key factors involved in taking a comprehensive medication history and demonstrate their use (professional practical skills); 5) Identify the different types of laboratory test, demonstrate their use and interpretation, and critically assess their use (knowledge and understanding); 6) Reflect on their own performance in compiling patient histories and identify areas for improvement (personal transferable skill).
