Aims: To generate an understanding of the extent to which Biochemical knowledge influences current clinical practice and therapeutic approaches.
Learning Outcomes: After taking the course, the student should be able to: * appreciate the increasing contribution of biochemical science to the understanding and treatment of disease; * have a knowledge of the areas of biochemical research that are most relevant to clinical medicine. Skills: Learning and studying T/F/A, Written communication T/F/A, Information handling & retrieval T/F/A, Working independently T/F/A, oral presentation T/F/A. Content: Students will prepare and present a 30 min talk on a particular area of clinical biochemistry, chosen, in general, from a list provided by the unit convenor. The talks will be followed by general discussion. Contributions of students to both their own talk and discussion of others will be assessed. |
