Description: | Aims: This Unit aims to provide a clear framework and context for safe, ethical and accountable practice. The Unit also provides a framework for teamwork, with an emphasis on communication. Learning Outcomes: Having completed this Unit the student will be able to: * Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of ethical practice by describing how these principles are applied in counselling and treatment situations. * Understand the role of supervision for good practice. * Adhere to good standards of documentation in reports and case-notes. * Work effectively as a team member, both by contributing to the team and using team members as a resource. * Communicate effectively and respectfully with other involved professionals in order to ensure the best quality of care for clients. * Demonstrate knowledge of a range of accessible resources to meet clients' needs. * Understand the importance of personal awareness and development to ensure best practice and safeguard one's own physical and emotional health while working in the addictions field. Skills: * Integrating classroom learning into the clinical setting. * Document writing and management. * Using supervision and support to identify development needs. * Analysing own performance and responding to feedback. * Working independently and as part of a team.
