Description: | Aims: This unit aims to provide the student with the skills and opportunity to: * develop ideas and expand a concept into a fully planned project ready to start production; * undertake research and development in support of the practical project; * undertake production management planning to enable the practical project to be completed. Learning Outcomes: On completion of the unit the student should be able to: * develop an idea into a comprehensive project structure and pre-visualisation using appropriate industry standard conventions, e.g. scripts, storyboards, walkthroughs, flat plans; * prepare appropriate budgets for production stage; * produce detailed time and project management, e.g. plans, schedules, timetables. Skills: Intellectual: (T and A) * Development of ideas into detailed plans for a final product. * Professional: (T and A) * Develop production management skills. * Prepare detailed budgets. * Project management skills. * Practical: (T and A) * Preparation of budget proposal Key: * Numerical: preparation of budgets. * Communication: production of planning documentation; letter-writing; the communication of detailed information to third parties. (T: Taught, F: Facilitated, A: Assessed) Content: * Working to relevant industrial and professional standards and developing a concept into a fully developed set of plans for a comprehensive product, e.g. scripts, storyboards, plans, sketches, walkthrough, flat plans, anima tics, scale drawings, models. * Producing a detailed and accurate budget for the production of the project including the use of appropriate industry standard software (e.g. MovieMagic Budget). * Organising resources to enable the production to take place, e.g. bookings, equipment hire, transport, personnel, stock, proprieties, locations, crew, actors, models. * Undertaking effective pre-production management tasks, e.g. schedules, call sheets, movement orders, cross plots, strip boards, critical path analysis, including the use of appropriate industry standard software (e.g. MovieMagic Scheduler.) |
