| Description:
| Aims: To give learners the opportunity to: * understand the importance of IT security; * understand the role of the IT Security Professional; * appreciate the ethical considerations that must taken. Learning Outcomes: To achieve this unit a learner must: * demonstrate an understanding of general security concepts * be able to Identify potential risks * be able to monitor activity and intrusion detection * understand the basics of computer forensics and security management * understand security policy and be able to apply security measures * demonstrate an understanding of professional ethics. Skills: Intellectual: * Independent research (F/A) Practical: * Practical investigation (T/F/A) * Monitoring and testing techniques (T/F/A) Transferable skills: * Working with others (F/A) * Problem Solving (F) * Communication skills (F/A). Content: This unit will look at: * the importance of security * the role of the IT professional in securing IT systems. * determination of potential risk and application of monitoring techniques to prevent intrusion. * basic computer forensics and system management. * implementation of security policy * ethical working practices. |
