Description: | Aims: The unit will equip students with skills and knowledge about: * the fundamentals of multimedia design and internet based applications in the creation of communication media. * the creative production processes of the digital media industry. * the creation and deployment of media content in response to the demands of a worldwide media market. Learning Outcomes: At the completion of this unit, students will be able to: * demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental concepts of multimedia design and development languages and applications. * create, compose and modify content to suit communication requirements. * demonstrate understanding and development of content relating to new technologies. * operate graphical software applications to create and modify media content for use within productions. Skills: Analytical: distinguish between a range of multimedia solutions, and the techniques employed. (T, A) Practical: use applications to create an integrated solution in response to a simulated design brief. use a variety of software applications creatively to deliver a product. (F, A) Key: ICT, communication (report writing). Content: Research and exploration of historic and current web techniques. Developments in the internet as a viable alternative for various mediums (audio, visual, entertainment, e-commerce) Exploration of web coding languages and coding as a means of web development (Java Script, ASP, PHP, CSS, SSI) Creation of integrated web sites and content using industry-standard applications. Create interfaces both graphical and code based. Modification of graphics and imagery to fulfil requirements. Use of CSS styling to control textual and position based content. |
