Description: | Aims: This unit provides the students with an opportunity to examine contemporary issues and perspectives on health and fitness promotion in relation to the work place. It identifies the role of employers and employees in the promotion of health to the UK work force, and recognizes the impact that corporate campaigns can have on health and fitness. Learning Outcomes: At the end of this unit students will be able to: * Develop an understanding of the issues influencing health and fitness behaviours within the work place. * Develop and analyse the effectiveness of health and fitness promotion campaigns. * Understand the impact of corporate health and fitness promotion. * Understand the eclectic nature of effective work place health promotion strategies. Skills: * Communication. * Information technology. * Basic management skills. Content: * Work place health promotion strategies. * Devise and implement a work place health and fitness promotion campaign. * Analyse the effectiveness of health and fitness promotion campaigns. * Strategies for behavioural change. * Exercise adherence and health behaviour models. * Critically analyse the success/failure of behaviour change following the implementation of a work place health and fitness promotion campaign. |
