Description: | Aims: To plan and conduct a theoretical or experimental research project using the industrial partners' research and development facilities. Students should be exposed to the nature of industrial research and development, and develop skills in tackling unresolved science and engineering problems relevant to industry. Students will have the opportunity to develop advanced computational or experimental skills, for example, in the preparation and analysis of samples, or mathematical modelling, and will have opportunities for appropriate presentation of the project. Learning Outcomes: After successfully completing this unit students should be able to understand the nature, process and challenges of industrially based chemical engineering research and development. Skills: Normally to include: Numeracy, literacy, synthesis, problem solving, communications, experimental design, data collection, data analysis, laboratory practice and research. Content: Work in an industrial research or development environment. |
