Learning Outcomes: Through attending this residential element, which is complementary to the Environmental Management and Assessment unit and serves as an introduction to the IEM MSc programme, students will develop and reinforce their understanding of environmental management systems and gain a detailed insight into the other environmental management tools addressed by the IEM MSc. The residential school emphasises the development of a real world perspective on environmental management. Skills: During the residential school, students work in groups on a case study with tutor support, thus developing interpersonal skills and getting to know their cohort group, and the tutors. Content: The residential school covers environmental management systems and overviews of environmental impact assessment, environmental audit, cost-benefit analysis, life cycle assessment, clean technology, energy management, environmental risk management and sustainable development. The residential school may be supported by online resources and activities as part of the development of blended delivery. |
