Description: | Aims: Apply advanced managerial knowledge and skills in a practical work environment, involving project based work, analysis, judgements, and communications; develop and extend relevant skills and knowledge; relate advanced management theory to experience gained; engage in reflective practice and evaluate systematically learning at work; conduct a sophisticated analysis of a practical management problem drawing on the taught part of the programme. Learning Outcomes: Apply and develop relevant advanced skills and knowledge; reflect on the learning objectives set as part of a Personal Development Plan and evaluate their achievement critically and self-reflectively. Skills: * Deal with complex issues systematically and creatively and make sound judgements in the absence of complete data and in consultation with relevant stakeholders inside and outside the organisation; (F) * Communicate conclusions to a range of audiences; (F) * Be pro-active in recognising the need for change and consider appropriate strategies for initiating and managing change; (F,A) * Be adaptable and show originality, insight and critical and reflective abilities which can be brought to bear on problem situations; (F) * Prepare and contribute towards organizational decision making with consideration to all stakeholders in complex situations; (F) * Evaluate and integrate theory and practice in a wide variety of situations; (F,A) * Be self-directed and able to act responsibly and collaboratively in planning and implementing projects at professional levels; (F,A) * Take responsibility for continuing to develop their own knowledge and skills. (F,A) Content: * Complete a period of professional practice with a minimum of 20 continuous weeks of employment. Annual holidays do not count towards the Period of Professional Practice. * Adhere to the Professional Practice Code of Conduct at all points of the placement process * Complete and return all paperwork issued by the Placements Office in an accurate and timely fashion * Receive satisfactory appraisals from each organisation in which they have been placed and adhere to the Code of Conduct laid down by the Placements Office. |
