Description: | Aims & Learning Objectives: On completion of this unit students should be able to: * Demonstrate improved personal competence in a range of sports * Discuss the application of sport science support to a range of sports * Examine and evaluate different training principles, technical/tactical and psychological elements utilised in a range of sports. Content: Students will experience sport from the perspective of performer: the module will cover skill development sessions in 2 sports chosen from the following list: Invasion Games, Net/Wall Games, Striking/Fielding Games, Aesthetic Activities, Aquatic Activities, Athletics Activities and Combat Activities. The rules and regulations associated with each sport will be covered together with their interpretation and application with respect to improved personal performance. Personal performance will be enhanced by the teaching and subsequent practice of tactics and strategies geared to the need of each individual. Psychological demands will be discussed and opportunities for performance enhancement through the application of sports science highlighted. Each sports course will include preparation for performance through a study of appropriate training principles and methods. |
