Description: | Aims: The aim of this module is to enable students to reflect on their development as independent, reflective and critical practitioners; to identify and reflect upon the process of their own learning and to Identify their future learning and professional development needs and how these might be met. Learning Outcomes: By the end of the module students will be able to: * Critically reflect upon their own practice and performance using supervision and support systems (Key Role 6 Unit 19 Element 19) * Evaluate previous life and professional experience and what they have to offer social work * Reflect on their development as independent and reflective practitioners over the course of the degree programme * Identify past learning needs and how these were met * Identify future learning and professional development needs and plan the steps needed to meet them * Work within agreed standards of social work practice and ensure own professional development (Key Role 6 Unit 19). Skills: Communication skills; skills in making effective use of supervision to understand and improve practice; analysing and evaluating information; synthesising information in order to gain a more coherent understanding; using research based concepts. Content: Models of learning and development; learning style models and learning cycle dynamics; the challenge of anti-oppressive practice; understanding of self and its relationship to our professional role; integration of skills, knowledge, intuition and values; the nature of personal change and transitions; audit of current strengths and needs, future professional development and learning needs. |
