Aims:
This unit aims to consolidate and extend language already acquired, for example in Stage 4 Semester 1 and to improve students' accuracy when writing and fluency when speaking. Students will be introduced to more complex authentic reading and listening materials.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the course students will be able to:
* Communicate confidently and spontaneously in a wide range of situations.
* Understand most TV news and current affairs programmes with some support.
* Read articles and reports.
* Write complex narratives and reports.

Content:
The course consolidates previously acquired language structures and skills and further develops the four competences of listening, speaking, reading and writing. In addition, more complex language structure will be introduced. The course will cover specific information relevant to countries where the target language is spoken including current events, political systems and regional differences. The course will further develop fluency, spontaneity and constructive reasoning though in class discussions.
