Description: | Aims: To develop an understanding of the research methods relevant for designing and delivering a practical business case analysis in an organizational settings and to set expectations for the 'Business Case' component of the Portfolio of Professional Practice (MN50389). Learning Outcomes: The student should be able to demonstrate by the end of this unit: * an understanding of the purposes and components of a business case analysis and systematic approaches to structuring it; * an understanding of approaches to engaging organizational stakeholders in identifying and defining a suitable business issue for analysis and negotiating access to relevant data sources; * the ability to research and review scholarly literature relevant to framing a practical business case, and secondary data sources for its analysis; * an understanding of the purposes of confirmatory and exploratory research and relevant quantitative and qualitative research methods; * the ability to design and report research methods (sampling, data collection, data analysis), and demonstrate an appreciation of the limitations of chosen methods; * developed skills in quantitative data management, descriptive statistics and univariate analysis of variance; * developed skills in the presentation of findings.
