Description: | Aims: The aim of this unit is to allow the student to undertake a laboratory based research project, and to develop practical research skills, including critical and presentational skills within a small group. Learning Outcomes: At the end of the unit the student will be able to: 1. demonstrate an ability to work as part of a small team; 2. generate original data; 3. to analyse that data appropriately and to present the data and conclusions in written form. Skills: Study skills, handling information, working with others (T/F/A) Written communication skills (T/F/A) Cognitive skills (T/F/A). Content: Small groups of students will be offered a choice of research project from a wide range of topics in pharmacology. The individual written reports will take the form of a research grant proposal, using a form based on that provided by the Wellcome Trust. |
