Description: | Aims: The aim of this unit is to enable student to apply the principles of learned knowledge to simulated scenarios to improve patient care and improve understanding of physiological and pharmacological responses. Learning Outcomes: At the end of the unit the student should be able to: 1. Demonstrate expertise in clinical examination skills 2. Critically evaluate communication skills within a consultation setting 3. Demonstrate good team working and problem solving 4. Reflect on learning in clinical practice. Content: The student will undertake this unit using the facilities of the pharmacy practise suite and the simulated mannequin (SimMan 3G). Relevant clinical; physiological; pharmacological and anatomical knowledge will be used to support learning. Clinical scenarios in respiratory, cardiovascular, diabetes and end-of-life care will be used to develop students' clinical decision making skills and the effective and safe management of drugs in these disease states. |
