![]() | Aims: To give students a knowledge and understanding of computer programming and experience of applying it to civil engineering applications. Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of: * Programming Concepts * Parametric Modelling Concepts * Computational Techniques in Civil Engineering * The practical application of such techniques in the building design process. Skills: Intellectual Skills * Ability to break a problem down into its component parts and build a solution from the bottom up * Ability to understand and design algorithms * The ability to write computer programs and to customise existing software * Knowledge of how Parametric Modelling can be used for building design Transferable Skills * Ability to work independently and manage time * Communication and Presentation skills * Research Skills. Content: Use of Spreadsheets as a Design Tool Parametric Modelling Functional Programming Object Oriented Programming Computational Engineering Techniques. |
