![]() | Aims: * To enable the student to show creativity and initiative in carrying out a technically demanding open ended investigation; * To enable the student to synthesise information from a range of sources; * To enable the student to communicate a major piece of project work effectively; * To give the student experience of working in a research environment. Learning Outcomes: After successfully completing this unit the student will be able to: * Plan, organise and conduct an engineering research project, setting out and meeting appropriate aims and objectives; * Present the project work via written reports and oral presentations. Skills: Problem solving, written communication, oral communication, working independently and as part of a team. Content: * Identification and analysis of relevant research issues; * Exploration and selection of appropriate methods of investigation; * Planning and organisation of a programme of research with clearly defined aims and objectives; * Analysis of research data and formulation of relevant conclusions; * Communication of research findings using both written and oral means. |
