Description: | Aims: * To enable students to understand the implications of carbon management for business organizations. * To enable students to appreciate the science of climate change and how it can be managed by means of policy and instruments. Learning Outcomes: There are five principal learning outcomes for the unit. Specifically, upon completion of the unit students should be able to: * Understand the causes of climate change and international and national policy * Develop a carbon management plan for business or organisations * Engage in emissions trading and principles and practice and other policy debates * Undertake carbon footprinting and advise on carbon emission reduction options * Understand the principles and practice of carbon offsetting. Skills: Problem solving, communication skills, time management. Content: The study materials are divided into the following sections: * Climate change: The physical science * Carbon management framework * National and international climate change policy context * Key topics for emissions trading * Complementary policies and measures * Options to reduce carbon emissions * Carbon footprinting * Carbon offsets. |
