Description: | Aims: To provide an introduction to the IEM MSc programme. Learning Outcomes: After successfully completing this unit students will have an understanding of: * the structure and teaching philosophy of the IEM programme; * Introduce the principles of environmental management tools and environmental management systems and to provide a practical appreciation of how they are applied. Skills: * Students work in groups on a couple of case studies with tutor support, thus developing interpersonal skills (F); * Oral communication skills will be developed through the presentation of the case study (F); * Team and presentation skills (F). * Study skills (T). Content: The students will learn about the structure of the IEM programme and study and library skills. The students will cover material in relation to the units in 'policy planning and regulation', 'sustainable development' and 'environmental management and assessment'. |
