Description: | Aims: This distance learning unit aim is to provide the student with an understanding of current best practises for all the major different types of environmental audit. Learning Outcomes: After successfully completing the unit, students should be able to describe in detail the different stages of the audit process, and the methodology involved in the different types of environmental audit. They should be able to carry out, and manage the environmental audit process and ensure that the resulting audit report is a valid and useful document. Skills: This distance learning unit develops skills in self study and written expression. Content: This unit covers: the origins of environmental audit; its current status in law; the costs and benefits of auditing; characteristics of an audit programme; the skills required; the basic steps involved; pre-, on- and post- site activities; elements of the audit report; different types of auditing and the potential future trends. |
