![]() | Aims: * To introduce students to a number of mathematical concepts used in chemistry primarily through chemistry examples. * To offer students the opportunity to use these mathematical concepts to solve chemistry problems. * To improve students' dexterity with mathematical concepts. Learning Outcomes: At the end of this unit a student should be able to recognise and solve numerical problems in the chemistry context. Skills: Numeracy (T,A) Problem solving (T, F, A). Content: * Revision of differentiation - definition, derivatives of exponential and trigonometric functions. Chain rule. * Integration - definition, indefinite integrals, area under a curve, by substitution and by parts * Graphical functions * Complex numbers * Errors. |
